Sales & Marketing Manager: Jerry Robinson
Born and raised in Southern Illinois, the parents of Mr. Jerry Robinson worked in the oilfields all their lives. He started working with Dowell in August of 1976 as an Equipment Operator. By 1979 he was a Senior Equipment Operator and started supervising production jobs. In 1980 Jerry was promoted to the position of Service Supervisor. He supervised all types of jobs, including acidizing, fluid fracturing, foam fracturing, cementing, and coil tubing.
He continued working in the eastern half of the United States until 1986, at which time the company requested that he switch over into the engineering and management fields where he was trained to perform his duties.
Over the next three years he worked in the general Sales & Engineering field in the Illinois Basin.
In 1991 he was assigned to a DESC Engineer Position in Marathon Oil Company office in Bridgeport, Illinois. As a DESC Engineer he was assigned to work with the Engineering Staff of Marathon to design and evaluate all of the service work Dowell performed for Marathon.
Over the next five years, Jerry remained as a DESC Engineering in Marathon's office as well as performing other duties in Sales and acting as Service Manager at Dowell. In 1996 he was promoted to the position of Senior Sales Engineer with the additional title of Area Expert in the Illinois basin that got him involved in all special projects in the Basin. In 1997, Schlumberger started a special project in the Illinois Basin that Jerry worked on for two years with the research department cementing experimental sensors in wells for stimulation. This was for a new service Schlumberger was going to market. At the end of 1999, Jerry resigned from Schlumberger.
In January of 2000, he took a job as Operations Manager at Citizens Resources Development Corporation, a division of Citizens Gas & Coke Utility in Indianapolis, Indiana. With that job he worked on special projects, mainly developing a horizontal jetting system they had bought to stimulate their gas storage wells. Unfortunately, this system failed. By October of 2000, Jerry had the jetting system working after designing all their tools and having then built at a machine shop. They continued with the project till February of 2002 when Jerry left the company. Jerry started at Franklin as the Sales & Marketing Manager and has seen the company grow a lot in the last two years. Schlumberger and Halliburton have left the Illinois Basin and put Franklin in a good position now with a strong energy market since we are the largest service company in the Illinois Basin. “Since I began working for Franklin, my wife and I are extremely happy. It is like the old days at Dowell when the company and people you work with are all one family. Don, Mark, and Brent Jones have made Franklin a family-friendly company that is a pleasure to work for.”
Jerry is currently a member of the Independent Oil Producers Association, Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Illinois Oil and Gas Association. Jerry is also a member of the Indiana Oil and Gas Association, where he is the Technical Advisor for the Board of Directors.
When asked where he believes Franklin Well Services will be five years from now, he replies, “I believe the company will continue to grow over the years with the new people we are hiring and the new technology and excellent equipment we are adding.”
